"Pilgrim" is the story of a meandering pigeon, lost in a world full of giant, repulsive creatures, searching for the meaning in its existence. Concluding the laborious expedition, the pigeon discovers that the only great truth of the world is that there is none. Upon this knowledge, the pigeon resigns itself to the powers that may be, endeavoring only in drifting through space like a floating leaf down the river.
